imagecontentfitnessThe newest cardio equipment that has hit the fitness market is the elliptical training equipment. It gives individuals full and low impact body workouts. However, people must learn if these machines have been living up on the beneficial claims.

The University of Wisconsin’s researchers known as La Crosse have compared the motorized treadmill from the NordicTrack Ellipse elliptical trainer. They focused on parts like the cycle ergometer and stairstepper to determine the differences among the provided exercise modes of both equipments. Their study revealed that running a treadmill and Ellipse displays no important differences in terms of heart rate, calorie expenditure, and oxygen consumption. Both equipments have provided superior workouts on its test subjects over the cycle ergometer and stairstepper.

The researchers also discovered that impact forces that are produced by the Ellipse is similar to walking, while running a treadmill became the number one activity in providing maximum amounts of exercise impact, which could cause knee and joint pain. John Porcari who is the lead researcher explained that the Ellipse ground forces reaction is less than a half, compared to treadmill running, thus the motion of each equipment is giving workouts with similar intensity. Moreover, orthopedic injury is less likely to be acquired.

Once I saw an old man. He was purchasing dumbbells from a nearby fitness equipment store. I was inquisitiveas he was in his 70s. I asked him, ‘Dumbbells in such an old age?’ He smiled. Staring into my eyes, he said, ‘Never quit the battlefield; especially when you have health and fitness clicks away.’ Battlefield? Health and fitness clicks away? His words left me wondering for a while. Since then, it had become a riddle for me. Yesterday, I was doing a bit of fitness exercise research work online. I needed to take notes about nutrients. Search results drove me to a link where I found the answer to my query i.e. the battlefield query. I got to understand why that old man used the word ‘battlefield’ then. Yes, with my internet access, I was surfing through an online fitness equipment store’s website.

Since primitive times, humans have been in the battlefield one way or another. Struggle between success and failure, health and disease rotates this world into a battlefield. People, all over the world, try to keep themselves and their dear-ones healthy and fit to fight back bacteria and viruses. Fitness equipment is one of the defensive strategies against such diseases. ‘Especially when you have internet access’–as the old man said– it has become very easy for us to find affordable online fitness equipment.

The right tool for right job signifies wisdom. Whatever the fitness exercise plan is, its successful accomplishment requires time and effort. With commitment and devotion, all exercise plans bring harmonious results. There is no denying the fact that the right fitness equipment is a must to carry out the right fitness exercise plan. For this, some of us join either nearby gymnasiums or fitness clubs. On the other hand, some of us would take fitness equipment to their homes, offices, schools, colleges, universities, and hospitals etc. This is how; we fight back against hostile diseases. Human nature has been programmed in such a marvelous way that it never quits any fight against viruses. With strong muscles and strengthened bodies, victory is always near, and one never quits the battlefield.

Pilates are now an answer to a number of health-related issues such as reduced core support, imbalance of muscles, pelvic instability, and back pain. Named after its founder Joseph H Pilates, Pilates is simply a series of exercise program that is focused to build a stable core, which in turn helps not only to strengthen your back but also to provide a healthy base to your overall movement. These exercises are based on six key principles, and the combination of these principles is regarded as the foundation of Pilates exercise programs.

Included in the principles are centering, which advises to concentrate on the bodys center, where core muscles reside; concentration, which gives emphasis to the connection between mind and body; control, i.e. complete control over muscle movement in order to ensure that your body do not perform without your awareness and concentration; breathing, which elucidates to breath in such a way that it should co-ordinate with a particular movement; precision, indicating the neutral alignment of the spine and neck; and flow, which encourages to perform exercise programs in a flowing movement.

In short, Pilates exercises are more or less a lively form of meditation, which are designed in such a way to support spine and maintain the healthy body balance. Enhanced muscle tone, stress relieving, improved flexibility, minimized risk of osteopathic disorders, energizing, positive attitude, improved posture and balance, and better sleep, are the benefits of Pilates work-outs, among many others. Above all, these programs help you to achieve an ideal weight.

Charles Atlas developed his training methods by observing the animals at the zoo. This was after he tried weights but had no progress.

For those of you who are in the combative arts, this might be of interest to you. We study the way the animals of the wild fight, incorporate what is applicable to the human body and use it to defend ourselves.

But, if we also take a lesson from Atlas and use these movements to develop incredible strength we can not only be much healthier, we can also be better at our arts. I personally believe this was part of the teachings of the old masters, but has been forgotten due to so called advancements weight training. Curiously, Atlas also taught fighting arts in his courses such as Karate, Boxing and Wrestling. Hmmmm

Many of the “old time” strong men acquired freakish strength with little or no use of any weights whatsoever. They knew what the Bulgarians have discovered thru high-tech experiments. That it only thru moving your body thru space that the proper hormones are released that result in greater strength and fitness.

The idea of having ones own gym at home is appealing, but unless you are a millionaire or a top celebrity, having ones home gym and trainer will be forever a dream. Unless of course, you decide to try getting a handy home gym machine. Two of those in the market currently are the Total Gym and the Bowflex Home Gym. If you were to choose between the two, which would be better?

The Total Gym is endorsed by Chuck Norris and Christy Brinkley. It promises to slim all the body parts of some peoples nightmares–the arms, abs, back, chest, legs and shoulders. Thats the Total Gym. Exercises can be done on a lower incline to firm and slenderize, then done on a higher incline to build and sculpt, they say. There are three versions of the Total Gym machine, with the least expensive being the Total Gym 2000 at US $599.40. With this machine you get a 30-day trial for US$49.95, and if you wish to keep it, there are 5 additional payments for US $109.89. On the other hand, paid in full you will get a free upgrade, which means an additional attachment to your machine that can add to your exercise regimen. Shipping is free for all three versions.

Independent reviews note that the Total Gym is used by over 7000 fitness centers, hospitals and rehabilitation clinics worldwide. Nonetheless, they claim that you wont get your moneys worth if you go beyond the Total Gym 2000 for personal use, since the basic to intermediate user will do fine with this basic model. A reviewer noted that all three models do the same thing anyway, give or take a few minor changes. On the downside, the Total Gym is difficult to move around, bulky and heavy. Hair can get caught in it, and the accessories are expensive. Bodybuilders will not benefit from it, and the machine is expensive compared to a health club where you get more options.
